Laymen's Day will be observed Sunday, October 9, at the Baptist Church, sponsored by the Brotherhood. The fourth week of the Church Loyalty Crusade in the Decatur Methodist Church saw the sanctuary filled last Sunday morning. A good many visitors were present, who were in town for the Homecoming at East Central. The attendance at Church School was 195, and the goal for next Sunday is 200, in order to help keep the average above 200 for these six weeks. At the morning service, the choir did a beautiful number of music and the Pastor preached on the theme, "The Good News Of Donnie Hopkins, a student at E.

C. J. C. from Carthage, was welcomed into the church fellowship at the end of the service. World-Wide Communion Sunday was observed at the night service, being a candlelight service.

The Wesley Choir opened the service with "Break Thou The Bread Of and Mrs. Frank Cross Todd and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H.

Day, were dinner guests in the R. C. Roberts home. Mr. and Mrs.

S. L. Dorris and Mrs. J. Will Alexander of Jackson were visitors Sunday in the homes of Mrs.

Ida Scarborough and M. M. Keith, respectively. Mr. and Mrs.

Hollis Price and Waldine of Canton were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Spivey.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Vance and Andrew Addy of Jackson were visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bert Young during the week end.

Miss Irma Lee Carey of New Orleans, spent the week end with Mrs. Pearl Van Etten and family. Mrs. C. A.

Crawford, who has been visiting her daughter and son, Mrs. Marion McMullan and Tberrell Crawford, and their families for several weeks, has returned to her home in Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. Red Dew and Norma Jean of Jackson were Decatur visitors Sunday.

Mrs. F.R. McMullan, who had spent 'several weeks in the Dew home, accompanied them home. Mr. and Mrs.

Waugb of Decatur, and Mrs. Susan Prather of York, were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. J. R.

and Mrs. Otho Goodwin and Johnny of Vosburg attended the Homecoming at East Central and were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cline Cook and family. Mr.

and Mrs. W. A. Walker and Billy of Monroe, attended the week end festivities at East Central, and were guests in the R. D.

Douglas home while in Decatur. Mr. Walker, former member of the ECJC faculty, is now with the Monroe City Schools in Louisiana. Mr. and Mrs.

Gressett Harris had as week end guests their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bonnie Wells, and son, Ronnie, of Ellisville. Mr. and Mrs.

J. T. Burton have returned to their home in Puryear, after a delightful two weeks visit with Mr. and Mrs. Robin Pace and family.

Billy Douglas spent the week end at home. Billy is a Junior and also a member of the Band at Mis Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bishop of Conehatta, Miss Mary and Joe Bishop, Mr. and Mrs.

Milton Eth-ridge and son, Tony, of Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vance, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith and Bobby Grissom of Decatur were dinner guests Sunday in the Leon Eth-ridge home.

Misses Ann Hope and Virginia Pierce of Atlanta, spent the week end with Miss Corinne Cross, and attended Homecoming at East Central Junior College. Mr. and Mrs. H. W.

and Mrs. Harvey Harris and family of Collins attended the Homecoming at East Central Jun- i ior College Saturday, October 1, The East Central Junior College Homecoming for 1955 was attended by a large crowd and enjoyed by everyone. The theme, "Welcome was carried out in reality. The banquet invoked the school spirit with colorful food in black and gold accents. Pres.

Bert Richardson, and graduates of former years listened to the Girls' Ensemble, and Temarks by Pres. W. A. Vincent and Mrs. W.

W. Newsome. Harold Webb, Rek Gordon, and Mrs. W. H.

Johnson, were elected President, Vice-President, and Secretary, respectively, of the Association for the ensuing year. The parade following couldn't have been better. Each float represented a letter of the theme and depicted the offerings and services of the College. The parade was led by the college band, assisted by the Decatur High School Band. The float of the Vocational Department won first place again this year.

The football game was all that could be asked by East Central fans, with a winning score of 18-0 over Holmes Junior College. The crowning of the Homecoming Queen by President Vincent climaxed the activities at the half. Miss Harvey and her attendants rode on the field in the Queen's Float, which was very beautiful. Following the Loyalty Crusade, the Clarke-Venable Baptist Church will have its Revival, which begins Sunday, October 23. The Rev.

Wayne Coleman will be the preacher, and Joe Abrams of Newton will be the song leader. The new church year began Sunday, and the new officers and leaders throughout the church will take over their duties. Members were urged by the Pastor to make this the church's banner year in every phase of work, with every member taking his place in the program. A team of speakers visited the Decatur Baptist Church Wednesday night and presented a program, which was given in all the churches in Newton County. The Rev.

John W. Cook's message Sunday morning was "God's Good News Of W. H. Johnson, directed the singing with W. H.

Johnson and Miss Marian Graham as accompanists. At the evening worship service the Pastor's message was, "How Deep Is Your Mr. Johnson directed the singing. Miss sang beautifully, "Think On These Every member of this church and every family has been asked to include in their daily prayers a special prayer for the Revival, which begins October 23. Every Sunday School Class and organization is asked to have a special prayer for the Revival at each meeting, and a special prayer will be made at each service.

The Rev. D. H. McKeithen, pastor of the Poplar Springs Methodist Church, Meridian, will be the visiting evangelist. He is an outstanding preacher and members and visitors will be privileged to hear him.

Friends will regret to learn of the illness of Thomas James Anderson, who is receiving treatment at Laird's Hospital in Union. Mrs. Tommy Wilson of Cone-hatta was a visitor Monday morning of her sister, Mrs. J. W.

Anderson. Mrs. Lucy McDill has returned home, after spending several days with her sister, Mrs. Tom McDill, who has been ill, at her home in Conehatta. Dr.

and Mrs. L. O. Todd of Meridian were among the many who attended Homecoming at East Central Junior College Saturday, October 1. Sunday Dr.
